Fallen AvengersxValkyrieReader Part 7

When you, Loki, and the Avengers stepped out of the Bifrost, you stared around yourself, confused.

“Where are we?” You asked.

“We are currently standing in a crack in the universe.” Thor said.

“A what?” Clint asked.

“As the universe expands, some parts of it grow weak. If the weak points persist, they become cracks.” Loki explained.

“But, how?!” Clint gestured wildly at the surrounding greenery. “How are there plants?!”

“You were expecting it to be barren?”

“Yeah!”

“Universe cracks often, but not always, form realms unto themselves. They are the worlds between realms.”

“Okay,” Tony said, “but why are we here?”

“We are here to speak with this realm’s queen.” Thor reminded.

“The Court of Miracles?” You asked, remembering what Loki had said earlier. “I thought it was just a story.”

“The Court of Miracles is very real.” Loki assured as he started walking toward the darkest section of the towering pine trees.

“So how do we find it?” Steve asked.

Loki drew back a thick curtain of morning glory revealing the gaping maw of a tunnel.

“We already have.” Loki grinned.

~*~

“I don’t like this place.” Tony complained. “I feel like we’re being watched. Like something nasty is going to jump out at us.”

“Right on all counts.” Loki murmured.

“Wait, what?”

“Two of the queen’s guards have been following us since we entered the tunnel.”

A high whistle of appreciation came from behind your group.

“Well, well, the Asgardian swine got us all figured out, don’t he, Ai?”

“Sounds like it, Pratt.”

A torch flared to life, dwarfing the small green fireball Loki had conjured so you and your friends wouldn’t run into walls (something Tony managed to do several times anyway). The torchlight illuminated the faces of the two men and they looked exactly like they sounded; ugly, coarse, and cruel.

“We have come to speak with your queen.” Loki said.

“Why would ‘er ladyship waste ‘er time on filthy Asgardians?” The shorter guard, Pratt, snarled.

“A guard should not concern himself with royal business.” Loki hissed. “Whether or not her majesty will see us is no concern of yours.”

“Take them!” Ai ordered.

Reflexively, Tony, Steve, Clint, and Natasha readied their weapons.

“Do not fight them.” Loki advised, already a decent ways down the tunnel. “Their job is merely to guide us to the Court.”

Pratt snorted at Loki’s words, making it clear that the only thing he’d like to guide would be his sword to Loki’s neck.

“What’s that sound?” Tony wondered after walking for a brief while. Now that he had asked, you too could hear the distant chords of music.

“The Court of Miracles.” Loki said with a ghost of a smile on his face.

The Court was an enormous stone hewn room roughly the size of Asgard’s mead hall. The room was filled with the outcasts of the nine realms, many of whom were drinking and laughing raucously. The laughing, music, and noise ceased the moment you and your friends were in easy view.

Ai stepped forward, knelt, and pressed his forehead into the stone floor. The room quieted down as Ai addressed an ornate golden high backed chair that was upraised upon a dais and turned away from the room’s occupants.

“My queen, we discovered intruders in the caves. They-”

“Silence!” Screeched an irritated voice from the chair. “I am in no mood to listen to more pathetic sob stories asking for sanctuary. Kill them.”

“I thought you were friends with the crazy chick!” Tony hissed.

“I was. Let me handle this.” Loki stepped forward and, to the surprise of all, knelt. “My dear lady, I will admit it has been a long time since last our paths crossed, but surely that does not warrant death.”

The top of an auburn head was just barely visible over the top of the chair before it ducked down again.

“Come now my dear, there is no need to hide. Show yourself to us, little queen.” Loki chuckled. At Loki’s coaxing words, a head finally appeared above the chair.

“Ah,” Loki smiled, “there’s my girl.”

In one swift movement, the simple chair was yanked around and a girl no older than seventeen settled upon it.

“That’s the queen?” Bruce asked. Thor nodded.

“Just what kind of relationship did they have?” Natasha asked.

“They were very close. If Loki ever had a friend, it was her.”

“What do you want?” The young queen’s voice rang out across the hushed hall.

“Don’t be like that, Alana. You’re not stupid. Obviously, we need your help.” Loki said.
Alana’s eyes lingered on Loki then darted up as if she had seen something behind him that frightened her.

“Do you have payment?”

“Of course.” Loki got to his feet and fished something out of his coat. Quick as a wink, Alana was off her makeshift throne and hovering before Loki, dragonfly wings vibrating the air around her. She held out her hands.

Loki placed something small in the queen’s hands. Alana gently stroked the trinket before nodding to herself.

“This will do.” Alana flew back to her chair. “When would you like to leave?”

“Now.”

Alana pondered the trickster god’s answer, head cocked to the side in thought.

“Then what are we waiting for? We must be off.” Alana started to fly toward your group.

“My queen! Wait!” Ai protested. “You can’t just leave the Court whenever you want!”

“And why can’t I? I’m the queen. I can do whatever I want and if you question me I will personally cut out your liver and feed it to you.” Alana promised. Ai paled.

“Y-Yes my queen.”

With the matter of her departure settled, Alana turned to your little group.

“Now, who cares to tell me why you require my aid?”

“Can someone explain to me what she is first?!” Tony demanded.

“Isn’t it obvious?” Alana asked. “I’m a Fae.”

“A what?” Clint asked.

“Your people have many names for them but fairies and the fair folk are the most well-known.”

“I’m a pixie if you want to be specific.” Alana grinned.

“But aren’t Fae supposed to be tiny little creatures?” Bruce asked.

“We are when we want to be.” Alana explained. To prove it, Alana shrunk down to the size of a butterfly and landed on Loki’s shoulder, grabbing a lock of his hair to steady herself.

“But enough about me, why do you all need my help?” Alana asked.

“We are accompanying (Name) here to Valhalla to retrieve the Aldartal.” Thor said, laying a hand on your shoulder. Alana flirted in front of you.

“Oooh, a Valkyrie. I haven’t seen one of your kind in centuries.”

“She’s not coming with us is she?” Tony asked. Alana turned to him with a bitter smile on her tiny face.

“I’m afraid so. If you are on a quest for the Aldartal, then your little adventure concerns me too.” Alana said, withdrawing a necklace from her dark green tunic shirt. At the end of the necklace’s chain was a green stone. Your eyes widened.

“Is that…?”

“The Duša? Yes. This is the gem of the soul.”

“Okay, so she’s a gem guardian, but does she have to come with us?” Tony whined. Alana leveled her cold hazel gaze at him.

“You are only allowed in this realm because I wish it. Besides, without me to guide you, you would never make it through my realm. So, shall we get on our way?”
This chapter progressed faster than I usually like them to but everything needed to happen the way it did.

I got my new computer today. ... I miss Windows 7. A lot. But I am getting used to my new computer. And it's nice to look at.

So Dusa (my laptop doesn't do accent marks) is Croatian for "soul" but as I don't speak Croatian, if I'm wrong about that, feel free to correct me.

And Loki's friend is revealed! Alana is a character I came up with during an improv skit with my friend. She's going to pop up in another story later. (It's going to be a LokixReader. Surprise, surprise.) Also, I want to make this clear that Alana is not meant to be a love interest for Loki. All they have is a very close friendship that borders on family as will be explored more in a different story.

There are several subtle hints in this story that will come up again later. One thing is going to be in the other story Alana appears in and one will be relevant later in this story. I can't tell you what one of them is because it would give too much away. I advise that you read carefully and critically.

Last thing, what do you guys think is wrong with Alana? (Also, opinions on her? Like, dislike, meh?)

Wooow, I love this story and I love how you stick to original mythology and facts.
As a myths nerd, I am veeerrryyy happy with all the information you put in there!!!
My favorite character has to be Alana, I love how snappy and mean she can beexcited happy
And that line with cutting out the liver was just perfect!!! (Hope I don't sound too twisted hehe...)
And she's LOKI'S friend ermahhgeerrd (I think the only friends he would choose to have would be ones like Alana)
Love this!!!
